Ahead of the launch of its first direct flights to China’s Ningxia region, Emirates has signed a new agreement to promote tourism to the area.
The Dubai-based airline will commence a new route to Ningxia’s capital Yinchuan on 3 May 2016, and it has now penned a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Tourism Administration, aimed at promoting the predominantly Muslim region through its international network.
The MoU will include joint marketing activities such as trade fam trips, product presentations, media campaigns, promotional activities, roadshows and workshops.
“By joining forces with the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Tourism Administration we are enhancing our efforts to support the tourism industry and increase our trade ties with the Ningxia region, which will ultimately grow inbound leisure and business traffic. We are confident that our partnership will attract global travellers to enjoy and discover the many attractions that the Ningxia region has to offer,” said Badr Abbas, Emirates’ senior vice president of commercial operations for the Far East.
The new Emirates flight will operate four times a week, departing Dubai every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 0245 and arriving at Yinchuan’s Hedong International Airport at 133. The service will then continue onwards to Zhengzhou, the capital of central China’s Henan province and another new destination for Emirates, landing at 1700. The return flight will depart Zhengzhou at 2110hrs, arriving at Yinchuan at 2255 and finally landing back in Dubai at 0430 the next day.
Emirates will deploy a three-class Boeing 777-200LR aircraft on the new route.
Bordered by Shaanxi and Gansu provinces and the Inner Mongolia region, Ningxia is an autonomous region for the Muslim Hui people.
