Emirates has taken delivery of a new type of Airbus A380 aircraft.
The “next-generation” version of the double-decker jet features a new seat configuration. The relocation of the crew rest area has allowed the airline to add 25 more economy class seats onto the lower deck.
This means that, in total, the new version of the aircraft features 516 seats – 14 in first class, 76 in business class and 426 in economy.
The onboard lounge and first class shower area have been retained, and a redesigned business class cabin features a higher ceiling. Overhead cabin lockers now will be concentrated in the middle aisles and will be 28% larger than previous versions.
The new aircraft becomes the 85th A380 in the Emirates fleet. It is the first of seven expected to be delivered this fiscal year, with 51 more on order.
