Ethiopian Airlines showcased its Boeing 787 Dreamliner and marked the 40th anniversary of its London route with the UK travel trade this week.

The carrier is to introduce the new aircraft to the London-Addis Ababa route on 16 June and offers a total of six weekly flights on the service.

Its Dreamliner will feature a two-class cabin with 246 economy seats and 24 sleeper seats in business class.

“The UK has always been a strategically important market for us and we are very excited to announce the launch of our Boeing-787 Dreamliner on the Heathrow route,” said Rahel Assefa, regional manager for UK and Ireland from Ethiopian Airlines. “As a result of this increase in airlift, we will now be in a position to offer the UK market around 20% more capacity, with our six weekly flights from London Heathrow to 43 destinations in Africa via our hub Addis Ababa.”
