Etihad Airways seeks revision of Jet deal

Etihad Airways said it needs to revise its deal to buy a stake in India’s Jet Airways, adding that it was too soon to say when a deal will be finalised.

Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed al-Nahayan, the carrier’s chairman, said on Sunday at a defence exhibition in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, that officials are set to meet with Indian Trade Minister Anand Sharma to discuss the matter.

According to Reuters, when asked if a Jet deal would be signed by March or April, Sheikh Hamed said: “I don’t know….we need to revise it.”

It is thought that Etihad was seeking a 24% stake in Jet for up to $330 million and was also looking for 50% membership on the carrier’s board.
