Etihad Airways supports sporting initiatiive

Etihad Airways will be flying athletes, including the current Black Belt Open Heavyweight World Champion – Marcus Almeida and female Open Weight Black Belt Champion – Mackenzie Dern, to Abu Dhabi. The participants will be attending the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.

This is the sixth year that the airline has been the official carrier for the tournament, which will take place from 19 – 24 April 2016 at the IPIC Arena. The airline’s involvement is to promote improved engagement and participation in quality sports by all UAE residents and to advance Abu Dhabi as a global hub for sporting excellence.

The 2016 championship is set to be the biggest to date with a prize fund of over AED 2.5 million (US$680,000).
