Etihad Airways has introduced its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on the Abu Dhabi–Zurich route.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by Etihad Airways’ chief commercial officer, Peter Baumgartner, and Zurich Airport’s chief operating officer, Stefan Conrad, was held at the departure gate to mark the occasion.
“Switzerland is one of the most important aviation markets for Etihad Airways and it is significant that we are deploying our state-of-the-art, new B787 Dreamliner on the Zurich route,” said Baumgartner.
“Our latest product is setting new benchmarks in service standards and we’re immensely proud to introduce it to Swiss travellers. We believe it will set us apart from our competitors in Switzerland and look forward to feedback from our guests who flew on today’s first flight.”
Etihad’s B787-9 aircraft comes equipped with the airline’s latest cabin products, including eight First Suites, 28 flat-bed business class seats, and 199 new seats in economy class.
Etihad now operates a fleet of four Dreamliners, with outstanding orders for a further 36 B787-9s and 30 larger B787-10s.
