Etihad Airways will add a second daily flight to Kuala Lumpur next month.
From 15 July 2013, the Abu Dhabi-based carrier will double the frequency of the route to two flights per day, adding 1,400 seats per week. Both daily flights will be operated using an two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft with 18 seats in business class and 236 in economy.
“More than one million passengers have travelled with Etihad Airways to and from Malaysia since the commencement of services in January 2007,” said Etihad’s president & CEO, James Hogan.
“The airline’s new double daily schedule caters for the growing demand for travel between Abu Dhabi and Malaysia and gives our guests a greater choice of travel times,” he added.
The expansion of the KL route was made possible by Etihad’s leasing of an A330 from Jet Airways. Etihad recently acquired a 24% stake in Mumbai-based Jet.
