Etihad Airways has unveiled the new livery that will be introduced across its fleet.

Initially displayed on the airline’s first ever Airbus A380, which rolled out of the Airbus paint shop in Germany this week, the new livery features modern patterns, especially on the tailfin and rear fuselage sections, which are covered with a series of white, brown and grey triangles.

According to Etihad, the livery is “inspired by traditional Emirati design patterns, the landscapes of the desert and the geometric shapes found in the modern architecture of Abu Dhabi”.

“Only a few months ago Etihad Airways unveiled the new cabin interiors for our A380 aircraft and we are now proud to show the world how this aircraft will look on the outside,” said James Hogan, president & CEO of Etihad.

“The striking new livery also continues our commitment to breaking from convention and doing things differently. This is a real divergence from the norms of traditional airline livery design and will stand out in the sky and at every airport we fly to.”

Like the airline’s previous design, the new livery incorporates the company emblem, which has now been brought forward from the tailfin to sit next to the name, while the UAE flag is displayed near the cockpit.

Following its introduction in the A380, the new livery will be rolled out across the entire Etihad fleet of more than 100 aircraft. The new design pattern will also be reflected in the airline’s new cabin interiors and lounges.
