The National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia (NCB) has announced its intent to finance Etihad Airways purchase of a number of its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The first aircraft was recently on show at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Post a proposal in May this year, the airline acquired the requisite financing from FGB and NCB through Sharia-compliant facilities. The airline currently has has 109 aircraft and a further 97 Boeing aircraft on order, including 71 B787s.

The Boeing 787-9 will enter into service next year to operate flights between Abu Dhabi and Düsseldorf and Doha. The Boeing 787-9 will be introduced on six routes from February to June 2015, including Washington DC, Mumbai, Brisbane and Moscow.
