Eurostar has revealed its new e320 train as celebrations for its 20th anniversary took off.

It’s a year until the new train will go into operation, and while the rail company already has 10 on order it announced an order of seven more yesterday at the unveiling.

Each e320 increases capacity by 20% to 900 passengers and will offer free Wi-Fi throughout as well as additional space per seat.

The new train model can be used on different European signalling systems, meaning services to different European cities are on the cards.

Recently Eurostar has added new routes to the French and Swiss Alps and Geneva on top of its core routes to Paris, Brussels and Lille. Year-round services to Lyon, Avignon and Marseille will launch next May, with an Amsterdam route with stops at Antwerp, Rotterdam and Schiphol due for 2016.

“Having had ten consecutive years of growth, we are seeing record demand for our services and the addition of new trains to our fleet will be key to achieving our growth ambitions. With just one year to go until our new e320 train comes into service, passengers will see a complete transformation of our service,” said Nicolas Petrovic, chief executive of Eurostar. “The combination of bold design, chic interiors and Wi-Fi connectivity will raise the bar, providing an unprecedented level of style and comfort for our customers.”
