EVA adds Houston to US network

EVA Air will continue the rapid expansion of its trans-Pacific operations next year with the launch of a new route to Houston.
Commencing on 19 June 2015, the Taiwanese airline will operate three weekly flights direct from Taipei to Houston, rising to four flights per week on 1 July 2015.
Services will initially depart Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 2200, arriving at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport at 2325 the same day, having crossed the International Date Line.
The return service will then leave the US city at 0115 every Thursday, Saturday and Monday, arriving back into Taipei at 0555 the following day.
The fourth daily flight will depart Taipei every Tuesday, returning from Houston on Wednesday.
EVA will operate the new route using a new 333-seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft offering 39 seats in business class, 56 in premium economy and 238 in economy. The aircraft will also form part of EVA’s tie-up with Hello Kitty creators Sanrio, and will be decorated with characters from the Japanese cartoon.
The launch will come a year after EVA embarked on a major expansion of its trans-Pacific services. In June and July 2014, the airline added 10 more weekly flights to five destinations in North America – Vancouver, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco – boosting its total trans-Pacific capacity by 22%.
Last week, Japanese airline ANA also announced plans to fly to Houston in 2015.
