EVA Air has taken delivery of a new Airbus A321 aircraft.
The new single-aisle jet, which has been leased from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), comes equipped with 184 seats in two classes – eight in the premium cabin and 176 in economy. It also becomes the first A321 in EVA’s fleet to come fitted with ‘Sharklets’ – the wing-tip extensions that are designed to reduce drag and save fuel.
“We are very pleased to be Taiwan’s first operator bringing the latest version of the cost efficient A321 equipped with Sharklets,” said Chang Kuo Wei, chairman of EVA Air. “Thanks to our new Sharklet-equipped A321s, we will continue to offer superior value and service to our customers.”
The A321 delivered this week, which will carry the Star Alliance livery, is the first of eight to be operated by EVA Air under lease agreement from GECAS.
Taipei-based EVA now operates a passenger fleet in excess of 45 aircraft, but plans to expand in the coming years with outstanding orders for more new A321s and Boeing 777s.
