Visitors can now climb Mount Everest without even getting their feet cold, with a new interactive, online 3D map of the world’s highest peak. Technology company 3rd Planet has added Everest to its range of interactive 3-D models of major global tourism locations, complete with sounds and special effects.
The 3-D attraction was developed in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board as part of its ‘Journey to Everest’ project, which aims to showcase Nepal and its UNESCO World Heritage Sites to travellers, outbound tour operators, and travel agents. The Everest map and other attractions will be rolled out in phases from the third quarter of 2011.
