Fairmont Singapore has completed a major refurbishment.
The project, which commenced in August 2013, has seen upgrades to the lobby, bar and all guestrooms in the hotel’s North Tower. The hotel assigned design companies Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) and EDG for the renovation, with the brief of developing a new design concept based on Singapore’s local Peranakan culture.
The new lobby now features a range of new furnishings and art installations, including a large chandelier made from 800 crystal glass balls. The hotel will now offer a new iPad check-in/out system.
The North Tower corridors now feature a series of figurines depicting the life in old Singapore, plus three-dimensional art pieces made from traditional local snacks and a new ethnically-patterned carpet.
The Fairmont Premier Rooms, which make up a majority of accommodation in the revamped North Tower, have also been designed to reflect Singapore’s heritage, with new carpets, curtains and “plantation shutters”. They have also been equipped with new amenities including Nespresso coffee machines and rain showers with a variety of different settings.
Fairmont Singapore is one of the city’s largest hotels, offering 769 rooms and suites, 15 restaurants and bars, a 4,600m² spa and 27 meeting rooms.
