Hyatt has entered into a management agreement that will see the launch of its first Hyatt Place hotel in South Korea.

Set to open in 2016, the new Hyatt Place Seoul will be located in the Dongdaemun area of the Korean capital. It will offer 204 rooms plus meeting facilities, a restaurant, bar and fitness centre. As with all Hyatt Place properties, it will also offer free internet.

“We are very excited at the opportunity to introduce the fourth Hyatt brand in South Korea,” said Ratnesh Verma, Hyatt’s senior vice president for real estate & development in Asia Pacific. “This further demonstrates our commitment to the country and our belief in Seoul’s robust economy.

“The Hyatt Place brand will perfectly complement Hyatt’s current full service hotel distribution in Seoul, and will serve the increasing demand being generated by the commercial growth of the Gangbuk district and retail shopping of Dongdaemun,” he added.

As well as being the first Hyatt Place hotel in Korea, it will also mark the brand’s debut in Northeast Asia. Once open, it will join three existing Hyatt-branded hotels in Seoul, including Park Hyatt Seoul, Grand Hyatt Seoul and Hyatt Regency Incheon.
