Stansted Airport has officially opened the first phase of its new departure lounge.
A World Duty Free Group new flagship store is now in the Essex airport at the entrance to the departure area which also includes a new security search area and retail space.
The second phase of the GBP80 million development will include a new Escape airport lounge in early 2015 while new shops and restaurants including celebrity chef options will be added throughout the spring.
The new departures area is expected to be completed in autumn 2015.
“When M.A.G acquired Stansted last year we set out a clear vision to return the airport to growth and improve services and facilities for our passengers. We are making great progress on our GBP260 million investment programme at Stansted and with the airport once again the fastest growing airport in London, the time to invest in change couldn’t be better,” said MAG’s chief executive Charlie Cornish.
