Five more bodies were found in the Costa Concordia wreck, bringing the death toll to 30 with a further two still missing and presumed dead. News reports from Italy said the bodies were found between the ship’s hull and the seabed.
The company further announced that the long process of defueling the ship has now been completed. The process took far longer than expected as operations could only be undertaken when seas were favourable, with all seven fuel tanks now emptied. Salvage teams are now working with the company and its underwriters on the next step of removing the vessel, reports suggest that this process could take as long as a year to complete.
