Flight Centre’s new acquisition is based in Dublin

Flight Centre Travel Group has acquired Dublin-based travel management company Travelplan Corporate Limited.

Flight Centre has purchased the company from Abbey Travel Group for an undisclosed sum.

Travelplan has operated as a licensed partner of FCm Travel Solutions for nine years and will continue to trade as FCm Ireland.

The move is Flight Centre’s latest in an international expansion for the business arm, with the group now looking after 230 retail and corporate travel offices.

“By making FCm Ireland a company-owned business, FCm and FLT are well positioned for future growth,” said Steve Norris, Flight Centre UK’s corporate business leader. “We have invested heavily in the development of our people and systems in the UK and placed the needs of the customer at the heart of every decision. This focus on understanding the customer combined with operational efficiency has resulted in a steady increase in Flight Centre’s UK results year on year.”

FCm Ireland will continue to be led by longstanding managing director Valerie Metcalfe.

“This acquisition will enable FCm Ireland to leverage the strength and resources of a global travel company to further develop our overall offering for customers,” she said.
