Flight Centre has launched a new virtual reality experience for customers at its travel stores in Singapore.
Using VR headsets, customers will be offered 360-degree virtual tours of three travel experiences, including scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef, wandering through the ancient town of Hoi An and visiting the bright lights of Tokyo.
Flight Centre becomes the first travel retailer in Southeast Asia to introduce VR technology.
“The introduction of virtual reality is part of Flight Centre’s plan to provide customers with seamless end-to-end travel experiences that begin in-store,” said Suyin Lee, managing director of Flight Centre Travel Group. “This exciting initiative enhances the dreaming and planning stage of a trip and inspires customers to interact with destinations they may have never considered.
“The virtual reality experience can also be used as a key sales tool, empowering Flight Centre travel experts with first-hand knowledge of the destinations they are promoting to their customers,” she added.
The destination films were created by TaKanto Virtual Reality, Singapore’s first VR production company. The VR tours are initially available at Flight Centre’s Singapore head office on Cecil Street, and will be rolled out to all three of the company’s Singapore stores over the coming weeks.
In addition to the launch of the first three VR experiences, the company said it has “more destinations in the pipeline”.
