UAE-based low-cost carrier flydubai is expanding its operations in India with the launch flights to Mumbai.
Commencing on 28 October 2014, the airline will operate five weekly flights to Mumbai, using a single-aisle Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Services will depart Dubai International Airport every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 2240, arriving in Mumbai at 0300 the following day. The return services will then leave Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 0400 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, getting back into Dubai at 0600.
The move continues flydubai’s Indian expansion. Just last month, the LCC doubled its network in India with the launch of flights to Delhi, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
The extra flights have been made possible by a new bilateral air service agreement between the UAE and India.
“India and the United Arab Emirates have enjoyed close historic relations and have been dynamic trade partners. We are excited to contribute further to additional growth in the travel and trade segments with the launch of our flights to Mumbai. We remain committed to serving the market with affordable and reliable travel options,” said Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai.
Following the Mumbai launch, flydubai will operate to seven destinations in India, offering a total of 25 flights per week.
