Chennai will get a new link to the Middle East next year, when low-cost carrier flydubai launches its first flights to the southern Indian city.

Commencing on 31 March 2015, the new service will run three times a week direct from Dubai. Flights will depart the UAE city every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 2125, arriving in Chennai at 0315 the following morning.

The return service will then leave Chennai at 0515 every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and get back into Dubai at 0805.

Like all flydubai routes it will be operated using a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Chennai will become flydubai’s eighth destination in India, following Ahmedabad, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram. The route will also boost the airline’s total Indian flight frequency to 29 weekly departures.
