The general manager of the new Four Seasons hotel in Johannesburg has described this period as an ‘exciting time’ for the city as developments continue.

Sebastian Carre said since opening last month the hotel has already seen several business and events bookings for 2015, while the ‘creative energy’ of the city is ‘infectious’ and leading to a renewed vibe in the city.

New restaurants, open air markets and the arts districts are all being revived, while the Museum of African Design was recently opened.

“It’s such an exciting time for Joburg as a new generation discovers its charms and shapes its future. Even if you think you know the city, it’s changing so fast that it is definitely worth another visit – and if you’ve never been here before, you are in for a very special treat,” he said.

David Barillot, director of sales and marketing added: “These revival districts are especially popular with locals and expats, and now international visitors are starting to discover them too.”

Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg opened on 1 December following an 18-month redevelopment that cost US$56 million.

All 117 rooms and suites were redecorated at the famed hotel as well as its public spaces. New restaurants, lounges and a spa complex were some of the additions made.
