Fred. Olsen to bring in Christopher Ward

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has announced that Christopher Ward, former editor of the UK Newspaper, The Daily Express, will be onboard the Braemar as part of the operator’s Vistas enrichment programme.
Ward, who will be on Fred. Olsen’s 15-night M1222 Western Mediterranean cruise, will talk in detail about his career on Fleet Street, which included breaking stories like the break-in at Buckingham Palace; and a recently published book of his ‘And The Band Played On’, which tells the story of his grandfather, the youngest member of the Titanic’s orchestra, Jock Hume.
Ward has also received the Mark Boxer Award for lifetime services to magazine journalism from the British Society of Magazine Editors.
Fred. Olsen’s Vistas programme, which won ‘Best Educational Cruise’ at the inaugural Cruise International Awards, also includes speakers such as Martin Saunders, a BBC wildlife cameraman; David V Thomas, a crown jeweller; and Sir Robert Corbett, a military history expert.
Ward will be speaking onboard the Braemar which will cruise from Dover on 7 September to Cadiz, Mahon, Ajaccio, Toulon, Barcelona and Gibraltar before returning to Dover on 22September 2012.
