Berlin’s new airport will now not open until March 2013 after management sacked its construction company.
Berlin’s Brandenburg airport was due to open next month but postponed the launch following fire safety concerns. Initial statements said it would open after summer this year but it has now been pushed back to 17 March 2013.
The airport’s managing director for operations and construction Dr. Manfred Körtgen has left the company amid the situation, which has seen many airlines have to revert schedules back to Tegel and Schoenfeld in the meantime.
Brandenburg’s fire safety system is now set to be completed this December.
