G Hotel Gurney in Penang has revealed the results of a major makeover.

The Malaysian hotel’s MYR35 million (US$6.6m) refurbishment has resulted in a modern new look which extends to the lobby, rooms, F&B outlets and meeting rooms.

The hotel’s glass lobby has now been furnished with new designer furniture, while new work chairs, 55-inch Smart TVs and a new fast Wi-Fi network have been fitted in the rooms and suites.

The revamp has also resulted in the addition of five new function rooms, bringing a total of number of meeting spaces in the hotel to nine, including two ballrooms.

The hotel’s restaurants and bars have also been upgraded. Taste, the all-day restaurant, now features a lava stone barbecue grill imported from Indonesia, while the pool bar now comes equipped with new lounge chairs, large umbrellas, and a retractable roof.

The 312-room hotel is located on Penang’s Gurney Drive, between the Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon shopping malls.
