Emirates is to operate Gatwick Airport’s first Airbus A380 flight next month to mark its 25th anniversary flying from the airport.
The double-decker aircraft will arrive at the airport on 6 July and will run on one of its three daily flights between Gatwick and Dubai. Its onboard facilities include shower spas in first class, an onboard lounge for first and business class passengers and a new in-flight entertainment system.
“The arrival of a scheduled Emirates A380 flight from Dubai for the first time at Gatwick is a double celebration,” said Guy Stephenson, chief commercial officer at Gatwick Airport. “It marks the 25 years that Emirates have been operating in the UK, with Gatwick being their first airport. It is also the first time that Gatwick has welcomed a scheduled A380 flight – a huge achievement for the airport”.
