Gatwick rules out second runway

Gatwick Airport has said it has no plans to build a second runway although warned it could be full by 2030 in is new master plan for 2020.
Following a public consultation, the airport revealed it will invest another £1billion from 2014 and could grow from carrying its current 34m passengers annually to 40m by 2021/22. However it warned that although its capacity could reach 45m by 2030, the airport would be full at that point.
Changes to Gatwick have been realised in the last two and a half years following a £1.2bn investment by new owners. Its further £1bn is set to be spent on improved rail, coach and bus services into the airport and ways to reduce the airport’s noise emissions.
