GCAA gears up for European partnership

The signature working agreement between the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is seeing some fruition with the recent visit of the formers international auditors.
The visit was to assess and monitor ability of the GCAA to discharge its safety oversight responsibilities over foreign airlines as set in the European Commission regulations and standards
HE Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director general, GCAA, met with lead auditor of the European team. Al Suwaidi described the importance of GCAA’s accession to the European programme for safety of the UAE citizen. This would also be for its role in unifying inspections standards and implementation in the UAE, particularly considering, the aviation sectors steady growth and movement of foreign airlines within the state.
Al Suwaidi also mentioned that accession of the GCAA to the European programme will help to reduce foreign airlines violation of safety standards in the UAE. In addition, it will allow the GCAA to promptly inform the European agency and the Member States about such airlines violations.
