The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation for the aviation industry.
The MoU was signed in GCAA headquarter in Abu Dhabi by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, GCAA director general, and Mohamed Al Ghanim, TRA director general.
The MoU between both parties provides a mutually agreed framework for cooperation between GCAA and TRA at a national level. The agreement also encompasses working arrangement with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to coordinate aeronautical spectrum services.
Al Suwaidi said: “GCAA is keen to work closely with TRA to ensure aeronautical spectrum services safely meet needs of airports, airlines, Air Navigation Service Providers and the Search and Rescue organizations.”
Part of the agreement is also to ensure that the aeronautical spectrum services comply with international standards and best practices. This ensures both GCAA and TRA are aware of needs of UAE aviation stakeholders to act upon requests for improvement.
