The Genting Group has revealed its plans for its huge new integrated resort development in Las Vegas.
Starting in the second half of 2014, the Malaysian conglomerate will develop Resorts World Las Vegas on a 35-hectare site at South Las Vegas Boulevard. The development is expected to take 24-36 months to complete.
Plans were presented on Thursday (8 May 2014) at a hearing held by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
“Our goal at Resorts World Las Vegas is to complement existing properties and bring a new and unique entertainment destination to the Las Vegas Strip,” said Genting’s chairman KT Lim.
“Our themed resort will cater to the high-end visitor as well as the budget-minded tourist. We will give first-time guests a new reason to visit Las Vegas and other tourists a great reason to return. Today represents a big step forward for our development, and we are excited to move forward with our plans.”
In the first phase of opening, Resorts World Las Vegas will include 3,000 hotel rooms, more than 9,200m² of gaming space, 22 luxury villas, a retail village, more than 30 F&B outlets, an aquarium, live entertainment venue and observation deck.
Later phases will then add three new hotel towers, a “large-scale attraction” (the nature of which Genting said is still to be determined), a theatre, convention centre, water park, movie theatre and bowling alley.
Genting said the project would create “tens of thousands of jobs”.
Resorts World Las Vegas will join existing Genting’s existing Resorts World integrated resorts in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.
