Germany has witnessed a 24.6% jump in Indian arrivials from January to July 2011, with 317,953 overnight visitors. The German National Tourist Office (GNTO) in India, which has invested more than EUR1 million (INR681 lakh) in the last three years to promote Germany here, will further invest EUR1 million in the coming three years as it continues to drive interest in the country among Indian travellers. This investment will be in the form joint marketing and sales activities with tour operators, sales activity weeks in major cities across India and study tours for the press and travel trade.
Romit Theophilus, Director Marketing and Sales for GNTO India said; “The India Pool’s efforts amongst the trade have been bearing fruit and we will continue to maintain the same. What is interesting to note, is the choice of destinations within Germany made by the Indian travellers which include Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne and Frankfurt. We encourage people to also explore the beautiful wide variety of landscapes available in Bavaria and Saxony. Germany makes for a delightful destination for families, honeymooners and young travelers alike.”
GNTO India will also take up theme-based marketing to further strengthen destination awareness among the trade.
