Goa will add to its range of tourism activities later this year with the launch of hot air balloons and amphibious vehicles.
Two Indian travel companies have been selected by Goa Tourism Development Corp (GTDC) to provide these new experiences. Delhi-based Camping Retreats has been selected to provide the hot air balloon rides, while Goa’s D’Souza Leisure will offer water bus rides.
“Goa Tourism will be focusing on enriching the tourism experience of visitors to Goa through the medium of adventure and allied activities,” said Goa’s Tourism Minister, Shri Dilip Parulekar.
Meanwhile, chairman of the GTDC, Shri Nilesh Cabral, said the new offerings would help diversify the state’s tourism focus away from its beaches.
“Both adventure services will focus on highlighting Goa’s hinterlands and will give tourists an opportunity to explore the rich geography of the state via the sky and the waterways,” he said.
The hot air balloon rides will initially take guests on tours over the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, while up to six amphibious vehicles will be introduced to Goa’s inland waterways. They will be able to carry up to 34 passengers at a time on 30-minute trips.
The two new activities form part of the GTDC’s strategy to offer a greater range of tourism products. In 2014 the state started offering white water rafting and women-only taxi services.
