Golden Tulip Hotels has announced plans to enter the Indonesian market with a range of mid- to upscale properties.

The company, which forms part France’s Louvre Hotel Group, has signed its first eight properties in the country, and said it is in negotiations for another 15. Commencing in 2014, the company will launch four hotels in Bali, plus other properties in Bandung, Yogyakarta, Bekasi and Bogor. These will all be developed under the four-star Golden Tulip brand, rather than the company’s three-star Tulip Inn or five-star Royal Tulip labels. The Bali properties, which will be located in Nusa Dua, Seminyak and Ubud, will be Golden Tulip resorts.

“The Indonesian economy is growing very fast and it is predicted to become the seventh largest economy in the world with its growth in businesses and public needs, especially in the hospitality industry. Seeing this situation, we are delighted to bring Golden Tulip to Indonesia by offering a series of our hotels and giving new accommodation options – with international standards and local flavours – to the travellers and business people of Indonesia,” said Mark Van Ogtrop, Managing Director of Golden Tulip Southeast Asia.

The move marks the latest stage in Golden Tulip’s Southeast Asian expansion. The company recently opened its first hotel in the Thai beach resort of Hua Hin, adding to two properties in the capital Bangkok.
