Grand Hyatt Doha recently signed an agreement with Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA). The partnership was for launch of the second phase of QTA’s co-operation agreement with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
Christoph Franzen, general manager of Grand Hyatt was part of a ceremony that was hosted by UNWTO secretary general Dr Taleb Rifai and QTA chairman Issa bin Mohamed al-Mohannadi. “UNWTO is guided by the belief that tourism can make a meaningful contribution to people’s lives and our planet,” said Rifai.
The co-operation agreement between QTA and UNWTO is aimed at developing necessary policies, regulations and strategies to take Qatar’s tourism industry into the future. “The UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism is a comprehensive set of principles designed to guide players in tourism development,” said Franzen.
The Global Code of Ethics for Tourism is UNWTO’s core policy document that serves as a blueprint for the development of sustainable tourism.
