Hainan Airlines has teamed up with Boeing to introduce a series of initiatives designed to improve the efficiency of its aircraft.
The Chinese carrier has deployed the ‘Boeing Wind Updates’ solution, which provides real-time information to improve aircraft performance based on atmospheric conditions.
The solution is being rolled out across Hainan Airlines’ fleet Boeing 787 and Airbus A330 aircraft.
“We seek methods to increase efficiency across all of our operations, and the Boeing Wind Updates solution will help us achieve our objectives,” said Haoming Xie, president of Hainan Airlines.
“Having real-time wind data in hand helps to increase situational awareness for our pilots and allows for changes to take place to best take advantage of current conditions.”
Boeing claims that Boeing Wind Updates will reduce fuel consumption by an average of 90-180kg per flight.
