Hainan Airlines has taken delivery of its 10th Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft – the last of its current order.
The new long-haul jet touched down at Haikou’s Meilan International Airport this week, following a trans-Pacific delivery flight from the US.
Like its other B787-8s, Hainan Airlines’ new Dreamliner comes fitted with 213 seats in a two-class layout – 36 in business class and 177 in economy. The aircraft will used to launch the airline’s new international service from Chongqing to Rome on 27 April 2015.
Hainan Airlines became only the second Chinese airline to operate the Dreamliner when its first aircraft arrived in summer 2013. Since then it has used the aircraft to launch new flights to several destinations in the US, including San Jose, Boston and Chicago.
Hainan Airlines also recently announced plans to buy another 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners from Boeing. This time however, it has opted for the larger B787-9 version.
This latest deal will see Hainan Airlines expand its Dreamliner fleet to 40 aircraft by end of 2021.
