Hard Rock to move into China
Hard Rock International has announced plans to launch two new hotels in China.
Through a collaboration with golf resort operator Mission Hills, the two new Hard Rock hotels are expected to open in Shenzhen and Haikou in 2015.
The announcement was made by Hamish Dodds, President & CEO of Hard Rock International, and Dr Ken Chu, Chairman of Mission Hills Group, at a press conference in Shenzhen on Monday (10 September).
“The expansion of Hard Rock Hotels into China is a momentous event,” said Dodds. “We couldn’t ask for a better partner than Mission Hills and are excited to share Hard Rock Hotel’s unique style and attitude with a Chinese population thirsting for new entertainment experiences.”
The 22-storey, 280-room Hard Rock Hotel Shenzhen will feature a range of facilities, including the signature Hard Rock restaurants, an entertainment lounge, recording studio and nightclub, plus a top floor of suite accommodation. It will form part of the new 50-hectare Mission Hills Centreville complex, which will feature hotels, spas, an exhibition centre, 1,000-seat cinema, bowling alley and ice rink.
The 250-room Hard Rock Hotel Haikou meanwhile, will be located in the Town Center development on Hainan Island, along with golf courses, retail outlets, bars and restaurants.
Hard Rock currently operates 18 hotels and casinos, including one in Macau, but this will be its first venture into mainland China.
