Hawaiian adds another new A330
Hawaiian Airlines has taken delivery of another new Airbus A330-200.
The new wide-body aircraft, which becomes the fourth A330 to join the airline’s fleet this year and the ninth since June 2010, flew in from France to Los Angeles where it underwent preparations for its entry into service.
The new A330 is named Keali‘iokonaikalewa – the Hawaiian name for the second-brightest star in the sky – following the company’s policy of naming its aircraft after stars.
Hawaiian will take delivery of 13 additional new A330s between 2013 and 2015, bringing to 22 the total number of A330s in its fleet. It is using the new aircraft to replace its Boeing 767s and boost routes to Asia Pacific and mainland USA.
Over the past 18 months, the company has added several new routes in Asia Pacific, including Seoul, Osaka, Fukuoka, Tokyo Sapporo and Brisbane, as well as boosting capacity to Sydney.
