Hawaiian Airlines will commence direct flights between Brisbane and Honolulu later this year.

From 28 November 2012, the airline will operate the route three times a week, becoming the only US carrier to fly to the Queensland city.

“Australians love Hawaii and our decision to introduce three flights per week from Brisbane to Honolulu reflects the strength of the Queensland market,” said Hawaiian Airlines’ President & CEO Mark Dunkerley. “The new flights will build on the success of our existing service between Honolulu and Sydney and strengthen our offerings as the leading airline between Australia and Hawaii,” he added.

The new flights will depart Brisbane at 1835 every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, crossing the International Dateline and arriving in Honolulu at 0750 the same day, with journey time of approximately nine hours 15 minutes.  The return service will depart Honolulu at 0945 every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, landing in Brisbane at 1600 the following day.

All services will be operated using a two-class Boeing 767-300ER aircraft seating 262 passengers – 18 in business class and 244 in economy.

Brisbane Airport Corporation’s CEO & Managing Director Julieanne Alroe said she welcomed the move, which will make Hawaiian Airlines the 27th airline to serve Brisbane.

“Hawaiian Airlines is an exciting addition to Brisbane as its extensive network not only provides travellers with direct access to Honolulu but connectivity throughout the Hawaiian Islands and to a number of mainland American cities including Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York,” Ms Alroe said.

“Three return weekly services between Brisbane and Honolulu is an excellent beginning and we’re confident travellers will quickly embrace the warm hospitality, convenient schedules, and great product offering from Hawaiian Airlines,” she added.

Hawaiian Airlines already operates daily services from Sydney.
