Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened a new Holiday Inn hotel at Chongqing University Town, a fast-expanding new area in the west of the Chinese metropolis.

The new Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town is located close to a number of local universities and industrial parks, as well as the Xijie pedestrian street which is home to multiple restaurants.

“As the first international four-star hotel in University Town, with the world’s most recognised hotel brand, Holiday Inn… we are looking forward to becoming a new landmark in the area,” said George Wang, GM of the new hotel. “We will offer best-in-class hospitality services to our valued guests from around the world.”

The hotel offers 360 rooms and 14 suites, plus international and Chinese restaurants, a lobby lounge, fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and spa. And for the MICE market there are 10 meeting rooms, a 945m² ballroom and an 850m² outdoor event area.

Holiday Inn Chongqing University Town becomes IHG’s seventh hotel in Chongqing, in a portfolio that includes InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties.
