InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is planning to add three more midscale Holiday Inn hotels in India this year.
The Business Standard reported the company’s head of Southwest Asia, Shantha de Silva, as saying that the new properties would be launched in Chennai, Tirupathi and Kolkata.
“India is the third largest in terms of growth for us, after US and China. We have 27 hotels currently managed and 42 hotels in the pipeline, of which majority are in the midscale segment. This year, we have launched two hotels and will be launching three more in the midscale segment,” de Silva said.
The opening of a 200-room Holiday Inn property in Chennai later this year will make Chennai the only city in India to have all the IHG brands currently present in the country. These include Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and InterContinental.
The new Holiday Inns in Tirupathi and Kolkata will mark IHG’s entry into these two markets.
