InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management agreement to launch a new Holiday Inn on Thailand’s industrial eastern seaboard.

Schedule to open in 2018, the new Holiday Inn & Suites Siracha Laemchabang will offer 300 rooms and long-stay suites, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. The property will form part of a new mixed-use development comprising three residential towers and a retail mall designed to serve business travellers visiting the area’s industrial estates.

The development is located just an hour’s drive from Bangkok.

“Over the years, Si Racha has developed considerably into a leading industrial estate and economic zone in Thailand’s eastern seaboard,” said Leanne Harwood, IHG’s vice president of operations for Southeast Asia & Korea. “Its close proximity to two of the busiest container ports in Southeast Asia, Laem Chabang Port and Si Racha Harbour, has drawn an influx of expatriates and business travellers to the district.

“We see a huge potential for an internationally-branded hotel in the area to cater to the rise in demand for quality accommodation,” she added.

Facilities at the new Holiday Inn will include a restaurant, lobby lounge, swimming pool, fitness area, five meeting rooms and a business centre.

IHG currently operates nine Holiday Inn hotels in Thailand with four more in the pipeline.
