Hong Kong Airlines will start flying to the US this year, with the launch of a new direct trans-Pacific service to Los Angeles.
Commencing on 18 December 2017, the airline will use its brand new Airbus A350 aircraft to operate four weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) between Hong Kong and LA. The frequency of the route will then increase to daily flights on 16 January 2018.
The new long-haul route will be enabled by the delivery of Hong Kong Airlines’ new fleet of A350 aircraft. These fuel-efficient twin-aisle jets will be configured with 334 seats in two classes – 33 in business class and 301 in economy. Hong Kong Airlines has ordered 17 A350s in total, to expand its long-haul network.
LA will become Hong Kong Airlines’ second North American destination, following Vancouver.
“Following the success of Vancouver route, we are excited to set up the first destination in the continental United States to further expand our international network,” said Li Dianchun, chief commercial officer of Hong Kong Airlines. “The launch of [the] Los Angeles route will strengthen the connection with our well-developed Asia Pacific network, thus providing more travel options for business, leisure, academic or family travellers.”
Hong Kong Airlines will become the third airline flying direct between Hong Kong and LA, following American Airlines and Cathay Pacific.
