In this week’s list of hot hotel openings, bold and modern brands are debuting in the most sought-after heritage destinations. Here the latest properties from Novotel, Hyatt, The Ritz-Carlton and more.

The Ritz-Carlton, Xi’an

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company announced the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Xi’an in one of China’s most historic cities, and the home of the country’s legendary 2,000-year-old Terracotta Warriors.

Owned by Zhongda Zhongfangxin Proprietary Company Ltd, the hotel connects guests to the destination’s rich way of life through a contemporary take on local culture, history and cuisine. Known as ‘the cradle of Chinese civilisation’, Xi’an is the ancient provincial capital of Shaanxi located in the central-northwestern region of China.

With a history that spans thousands of years, Xi’an is one of China’s four ancient capitals and the former home to thirteen imperial Chinese dynasties. The city marks the eastern end of the ancient Silk Road and today is a key crossroad to one of the country’s most important trading corridors.

The opening of Novotel Chiang Mai Nimman Journeyhub offers travellers an added choice of accommodation to enjoy the historical city known as the Rose of the North. Located in the heart of Nimman area, the hotel features 202 rooms and suites with a 55-inch smart TV, minibar and spacious bathroom with separate bathtub and shower. Selected rooms also feature private balconies and garden access.

Some of Chiang Mai’s best lifestyle and shopping centres are within walking distance from the hotel, including Maya Lifestyle Mall, One Nimman Mall, Think Park Mall, and Rin Kham Night Market. Also located a short stroll from the hotel is Wua Lai Walking Street which opens on Saturday nights and the Wororot Night Market.

AC Hotels by Marriott recently opened AC Hotel Kingston, Jamaica, bringing the brand’s forward-thinking design approach to the island.

Born from the vision of hotelier Antonio Catalan, the brand was founded in 1998 in Spain, and brought into the Marriott International portfolio in 2011, launching AC Hotels by Marriott globally in locations including France, Denmark, the United States, Latin America, Puerto Rico and now Jamaica.

Embracing the AC brand’s focus on purposeful design, the AC Hotel Kingston, Jamaica features 219 rooms and access to a 24-hour fitness centre; an outdoor pool; the brand’s signature AC Kitchen which provides a daily European-inspired breakfast buffet infused with a taste of Jamaica; and the AC Lounge, which offers a chic, open and comfortable ambience, ideal for co-working and socialising.

Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has unveiled the opening of Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay, marking the debut of the Hyatt Place brand in Japan.

Located in Urayasu City in Chiba Prefecture, Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay is just 30 minutes by train or car from central Tokyo, offering a resort-like atmosphere with views of Tokyo Bay. The hotel is between both of Tokyo’s airports, 21 miles from Haneda Airport and 34 miles from Narita Airport. The property is also less than 2.5 miles from Tokyo Disney Resort, one of Tokyo’s premier destinations.

With rooms overlooking Tokyo Bay, the 10-story hotel offers 363 guestrooms, including three suites, 196 square meters of meeting space, an all-day dining facility, and a 24-hour gym. Japanese fashion designer, Junko Koshino, designed the colleague uniforms and produced key art for the interior of the hotel.
