Barony Castle joins Mercure brand

Edinburgh’s Barony Castle has opened under Accor’s Mercure brand after a GBP400,000 refurbishment. Now known as the Mercure Eddleston Barony Castle Hotel & Spa, the hotel has added new suites and leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, spa, five-a-side football pitch and rope course. “We believe that Mercure Eddleston Barony Castle Hotel and Spa has the quality and ethos to thrive as part of the Mercure brand,” said Jonathon Sheard, managing director of operations, MGallery and Mercure Hotels UK & Ireland. “The castle has kept its traditional feel whilst the refurbishment brings it up to date with all the modern facilities guests need.”

 

Hard Rock All-Inclusive gets UK team

Hard Rock Hotels All Inclusive Collection has appointed Destination Representation to handle its UK & Ireland sales and marketing activity. The account will be handled through newly-appointed Tracey Dyson to showcase agents its three properties in Mexico and its flagship in the Dominican Republic.

 

New ‘hotel-gallery’ opens in Paris

A new hotel that incorporates an art gallery has opened in Paris. HOTEL ATMOSPHERES includes 112 prints and a video from photographer Thierry des Ouches that depict his views of Paris. Its 56 rooms and six suites also include pieces and are designed architect Vincent Bastie’s themes of nature, monuments, by night, urban, macaron and palace. Its facilities include a reading room , La Spa and business lounge.

 

Refurbishment work continues at Menzies

Menzies London Chigwell Price Regent Hotel is currently going through a GBP1 million renovation as part of its parent company’s redevelopment programme. Its restaurant, bar and 28 rooms have been redesigned so far and with environmentally-friendly lighting as part of its green tourism initiative. Menzies is spending GBP7 million on its company restoration.

 

Hyatt plans Andaz expansion

Hyatt has revealed it plans to open more hotels under the Andaz brand after launching its Amsterdam property this week. Its Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is the fourth property under the brand to open following others in London, New York and Shanghai, with the brand also set to open in Maui, Delhi, Jaipur and Costa Rica.
