TUI’s B2B business Hotelbeds has seen the number of room nights booked increase 21% year-on-year as it continues to be one of the fastest-growing parts of the company.
The hotel arm is set to reach EUR1.45 billion in transactions this year and has more than 54,000 hotels on its bank. Spain and Turkey remains its best-selling destination although its five-year plan up to 2015 will see a focus on growth in Asia and the Americas.
“We are really happy with the results considering the economic environment and the UK source market is still growing 20% in 2011,” Marta Álvarez, deputy managing director sales & marketing at Hotelbeds told Travel Daily. “We aim to continue outperforming the market in 2013 and have a clear vision and strategy in place.”
Its Destination Services brand exhibited at WTM for the first time this week and is “already booming” as it rolls out across the world. It currently handles 14 million customers with 6m excursions, which Álvarez said is a “big part of the business”.
