A huge new hub for tour buses will be created in Shanghai’s Bund area to serve the city’s new Disneyland resort, authorities have revealed.

The Shanghai Daily reported the government of the city’s Huangpu district as saying this week that the bus park will be developed at Shiliupu Wharf, to cater for the large number of passengers visiting Shanghai Disney Resort.

Tour buses arriving from outside the city will be directed to the hub, which will forms part of Shanghai’s new travel service centre on Zhongshan Road East, which will begin operating in June.

The new centre covers over 37,000m² and has three underground levels with 800 parking spaces for small vehicles and 100 for buses.

From here, visitors will be transferred to the theme park by shuttle buses, which will depart every 30 minutes or every hour, depending on demand. One-way tickets will cost CNY25 (US$3.80) and the journey will take about 45 minutes.

Alternatively, guests will be able to take the subway to Shanghai Disney Resort, following the opening of a new station on Metro Line 11 last month.
Shanghai Disney Resort will become the world’s largest Disney theme park when it opens on 16 June.
