Norwegian cruise operator Hurtigruten has announced that it to add more charter capacity as the line experiences huge levels of demand for its Northern Lights cruises.

The line has added two new dates to its season, taking the total number of charters to 44 – a record amount for the firm.

The two new charters will leave Manchester Airport on 9 March 2013 and Gatwick on 20 March 2013 – with both flights tying in with a 12-night ‘Classic Round Voyage’ from Bergen to Kirkenes and back.

“This winter sales really have been phenomenal and our charter flights are over 80% sold,” said Kathryn Beadle, managing director at Hurtigruten UK. “ These new dates have been driven by our need to provide agents with available product to sell as the demand is there and we have worked hard to ensure that there is enough capacity to meet it. Our charter programme has filled up fast, but in addition to the two extra flights customers also have the option of booking our cruise only product that departs every day and travelling by scheduled carriers to be able to experience the Northern Lights.”

Prices for the 12-night sailing start from GBP1,372 based on two sharing.
