Hurtigruten appoints William Harper to head up new Hong Kong office

Hurtigruten have today announced they are opening an office in Hong Kong, headed up by newly appointed president, China and Asia-Pacific, William Harber.
The newly appointed President Harber commented: “Adventure travel is one the fastest growing global tourism mega trends. I am of the opinion that the premium Hurtigruten experience, with activity, learning and sustainability in the core, resonate particularly well in these regions. I see great potential in offering even more guests from these corners of the world unique nature-based experiences in pristine waters.”
Harber is charged with developing markets in Greater China, Japan, Australia & New Zealand, as well as India. He will establish an office in Hong Kong and improve the commercial infrastructure to deepen travel agent relationships and open new channels for growth.
Mr. Harber has over 20 years of experience, including 12 in the cruise industry. He was most recently SVP & Managing Director Asia for Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
He also served as Vice President, Market Development for Carnival Asia. Based in Singapore, he advanced the group’s growth strategy for the rapidly expanding region. Mr. Harber joined Carnival’s Miami, Florida headquarters in 2004 as a member of the Shared Services team. In 2011, he was promoted to Vice President, Corporate Marketing, working globally across their 10 cruise brands.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Harber was a management consultant at A.T. Kearney and served as Director, Product Marketing for a technology start-up in Atlanta, Georgia. He earned his MBA in Marketing Strategy from Emory’s Goizueta Business School and graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor of Industrial & Systems Engineering.
Currently, Hurtigruten offers Arctic voyages to Greenland; to Iceland; around Spitsbergen; and from 2017 to Arctic Canada. In the southern hemisphere, Hurtigruten takes guests to the waters around Antarctica; along both coasts of South America; and from 2017, to the mighty Amazon rainforest.
