Hyatt has signed an agreement that will lead to the launch of the Hyatt House brand in Southeast Asia.

The hotel group has penned a deal with Malaysia’s UEM Sunrise Berhad to develop a new Hyatt House hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Expected to open in 2017, Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont’Kiara will become the first Hyatt House hotel in Malaysia, and marks the brand’s first signing in Southeast Asia.

Hyatt House is an extended stay brand with 67 locations in North America. It also has six properties in the pipeline in mainland China.

“We are delighted to bring the Hyatt House brand to Kuala Lumpur,” said Patrick Finn, Hyatt’s vice president of real estate & development for Asia Pacific. “We believe that Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont’Kiara will be able to cater to a growing extended stay market in the Kuala Lumpur area. We look forward to welcoming guests and making them feel at home.”

Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont’Kiara will be located in a suburb of Malaysia’s capital, 5km from the city centre. It will offer 298 guestrooms, a restaurant, 290m² of meeting space, a fitness centre and “sky pool”.

The hotel will form part of a mixed-use development, Arcoris Mont’Kiara, which will also feature offices, residential units and a retail area.

According to Hyatt, the Hyatt House brand is designed to make guests feel like “residents”, with rooms featuring extended stay amenities such as kitchenettes, and facilities including free Wi-Fi and 24-hour fitness and business centres.
